Black Salamander Studios

Independent game studio

Real videogames, made by real humans.

We build worlds that keep going after you log off: multiplayer role playing games and the server technology that holds them together. Persistent state, systemic NPCs, and worlds meant to be lived in rather than reset.

Projects

Three worlds in progress.

  1. 01

    The Bleak Isles: Myronith

    In development

An original open world role playing game set in the Bleak Isles, an archipelago of drowned coasts, old magic and older grudges. Built from the ground up for singleplayer, co-op and dedicated servers alike, so the world works the same whether you sail it alone or with a crew. Myronith is where it starts.

  2. 02

    Silt Strider

    Server live, in testing

A persistent multiplayer Morrowind, running on TES3MP with a custom living world layer on top. NPCs hold their own conversations and remember them, towns change hands, and the roads and borders of the map are recorded by walking them. An ongoing experiment in what a shared Morrowind can be.

  3. 03

    Tales from Nirn: Oblivion

    Early development

Still in early development. Built on many of the same systems as Silt Strider, recontextualized for a modern platform.

About the studio

Black Salamander Studios is a small independent studio working on multiplayer role playing games and the infrastructure underneath them.

Most of what we build starts from the same question: what does a world feel like when it does not pause for you? That pushes us toward persistent servers, NPCs with memory and motive, and systems that keep running whether or not anyone is watching.

We work across original projects and the modding communities we came out of, because both are good places to find out what actually holds up once real players get their hands on it.
